Biology Students Exploring the Digestive System Of A Rat

Unit 1 & 2 Biology students completed work in the science laboratory to explore the digestive system of a rat. They completed a rat dissection and familiarized themselves with the main parts of the human digestive system. They identified various organs and discussed the main functions of each organ. They tried to keep the organs intact during their dissection and probed to find the parts of the small intestine.

SRC News

Students in the SRC hosted a number of events this term and should be commended for their efforts. Their hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed.

SRC Members are a voice for their peers. They implement the changes and suggestions brought to them in order to provide students with both support and fun experiences.

On the 23rd of May, the SRC hosted a Crazy Accessory Day. Students wore their craziest colours and patterns in order to raise funds for the Kids Cancer Project. Crazy Accessory Day originally started out as Crazy Sock Day, however the SRC decided to put even more of a fun swing on this day by opening it up to accessories like scarves, jackets, jewellery and shoes.

The SRC has also made Terms 2-4 Environmental Awareness Terms. Students are pushing for changes to how we approach our environment as individuals and in the wider school community. We have started a rubbish collection initiative where students are awarded tokens for doing the right thing by the school and picking up litter. They can hand these tokens into Mrs Kira for their chance to win a voucher by the end of the term. The more litter collected, the more chance there is of winning a prize!

Students are busy planning ahead for next term. Be on the lookout for more Environmental Awareness projects, Literacy Week and Science Week activities!
